In this classic account of St Thérèse's spiritual teaching, Sr Teresa Margaret explores with us her life, her devotions, her teachings and her posthumous mission. She shows how a modern saint achieved so perfect a likeness to Christ in her own life, and how the unchanging standard of our Saviour can be adapted in every way to the needs and problems of this present age.

The Gift of Thérèse of Lisieux John Udris
'Perfection lies in being just what he wants us to be.' Thérèse of Lisieux understood our unique identity in God, and spent her life bringing others to know this truth, leading her to describe herself once as "the mother of souls". But Therese is also widely known as "The Little Flower" for her simplicity and her belief in smallness as an attitude before God. Allied to smallness is weakness and Therese found this to be an essential part of the Christian's journey, encouraging us to be joyful in it as it leads us to God on a daily basis.
Such gratitude overflows her thinking, making her praise and prayer simple and immediate.
This book is written by the noted Thérèse scholar John Udris, Dean of Northampton Cathedral, and superbly illustrated by well-known calligrapher Lynne Muir.

In the preface of this translation, first published in 1951, Fr Day explains how St Thérèse's remarkable autobiography was presented to the public. The material consisted of three manuscripts which originally were not intended for circulation. As a record of spirituality at once simple and sublime, their value was soon recognised, and her sister, Mother Agnes, was given the task of putting them in order. Her editorial work resulted in a cohesive and clear account of the Saint's short life, and Fr Day has been careful to preserve her endearing style.

A carefully researched biography, the life, times and spirituality of St Thérèse are brought to vivid life. She is called 'the Little Flower', but she is no shrinking violet. Denied entry to the Carmelite convent because of her youth, she argued her cause all the way to Pope Leo XIII. Finally admitted to Carmel in 1888 at the age of 15, she lived only nine more years, but in those nine years she achieved a state of holiness few have attained.

St Thérèse is one of the best-loved saints of the Church. Her writings are amongst the most popular works of spirituality that the world has ever known. She wrote with utter simplicity, and yet, because of her outstanding spiritual discernment, John Paul II declared her a Doctor of the Church. Her gifts as a poet, however, have remained largely unknown to English-speaking readers here, for the first time, are English translations of no fewer than 72 poems of this remarkable Carmelite nun.
Scholarly and sensitive in his interpretation, Alan Bancroft captures the intelligence and fervour of her verse. These poems like her prose writing celebrate her joyous surrender to the glory of God.

The Fearless Trust of St Thérèse of Lisieux
The aim of this book is to offer everyone the opportunity to encounter Thérèse; that we may feel a new current of confidence flooding our prayer, flowing into our relationships, promising to irrigate every area of our Christian experience. If we yield to the impact of this young woman, we may yet find ourselves among the many whose lives she has overtaken and overturned decisively.
Your book has deepened my appreciation of Therese even though for most of my life I have been reading her, and reading and thinking about her and growing in love for her.

The Little Rule and the Little Way
Fewer saints could be more different than Thérèse of Lisieux and Benedict of Nursia. One was a teenage girl in 19th century France, the other the 6th century founder of Western monasticism. Benedict lived to a ripe old age and was honoured by popes and monarchs, Thérèse died young in the obscurity of her provincial convent.
Despite their differences, the lives and writings of St Benedict and St Thérèse complement one another beautifully.

The Seed and the Root of the Little Flower
Eighty-three years after their daughter's canonisation, Louis and Zélie Martin, the parents of the greatest Saint of modern times, were beatified in October 2008. They loved all their children and wanted to provide the best for them, but above all they loved God and desired that each of their family would also love Him. The Martins lived in a time of trouble for the Church in Rome and of war between France and Prussia. Their main battle, however, was in achieving holiness for themselves and each of their children.
They simply lived an ordinary life, but lived it extraordinarily well.
